Data breach cyber-attack
On Monday 17 April, The National Smallbore Rifle Association was subject of a data breach cyber-attack.
The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) is leading the investigation with support from the National Crime Agency (NCA). The National Smallbore Rifle Association have informed customers of the breach.
In the event of any data breach, the SEROCU Cyber Protect Team recommends that those involved take immediate steps to secure their online accounts. Any passwords used in the impacted service need to be updated to a new and unique password. If the same password was used anywhere else, it should also be changed to something new and unique.
Cyber criminals sell and trade stolen data which can increase the risk of attempted fraud and cyber-crime against those involved. You must be wary of unsolicited or unexpected contact and treat attachments to emails with caution.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.
An update will be published at an appropriate time.
